In the following, insightful, new video, Independent Institute Research Fellow Benjamin Powell reveals “Why Washington only cut $38 billion” recently from federal spending because as public choice economics shows, special interests prevail over the average citizen by utilizing the political process to redistribute wealth and power from the many to the few (and costs and liability from the few to the many), so long as understanding of this predatory process remains little known.

Fortunately, the general public is increasingly becoming aware of the reality of such abusive political power in the new grassroots movement against Washington’s profligacy.

For the Government Cost Calculator’s alternative budget for the federal government that would reduce spending by 2/3 and produce a $1.3 trillion surplus for the current fiscal year, please go here.

  1. MSgt Steven Westerfield USMC (Ret) says:

Most know that our government has become an abortion of greed and gluttony even if they do not know the “particulars”. The questions is, how do we get the laws changed? How do we turn things around? Who can gather honest, upstanding politicians/sponsors to get the changes made?
We need another Andrew Volstead to get change going.

  2. Rick Witt says:

I believe the only way we can turn this around is to remove the corrupted positions of power we call representatives and do it ourselves. I believe for the first time in man’s history we have the technology to accomplish this. We need a true webolution.

  3. Good explanation, but it’s just not special interests, it’s also greed and corruption. For the facts and the answers go to theaveragejoe.us. We need a solution Quick.
