Fiscal Cliff Sock Puppets

With so many Americans shifting their focus away from Washington D.C. to the holiday season, it would be very easy to have missed the following interview from CNBC with a member of the U.S. Senate on the state of the fiscal cliff negotiations in the nation’s capitol (via The Blaze)

Click here for the interview at CNBC’s site.

And that, in a nutshell, explains so much of why government in Washington D.C. doesn’t work – too many politicians are just too interested in playing like sock puppets than than they are in actually working for the American people they represent.

I think that the American politicians,by and large,do “work” for a majority of the American people. The only problem is that a voting majority of the American people want socialism. They want their Social Security, their Medicare and Medicaid, their welfare checks, their unemployment checks, their food stamps, their government “jobs” where they can retire at 55 with a fat pension, they look the other way as far as the American war empire is concerned or the stupid war on drugs is concerned and have by and large accepted the government running off the rails of its Constitutional restraints. The thing is that a voting majority expect someone else to pay for it all. The only problem is that the socialism and fascism that has been spawned over the decades has bankrupted the Federal Treasury, caused massive inflation and has put Americans in unpayable and unsustainable debt for the next 100 years. Now the the politicians want to,in order to continue their corrupt system,go after whats left of success in the American Free Enterprise System. That is tax the so called “rich.” So now, both Republicans and Democrats are fighting over how much to steal, when in essence the welfare/warfare state should have been shut down years ago. Again, the politicians are only doing what a voting majority elected them to do. In the end,you get what you vote for even if it bankrupts the nation.

@libertarian jerry: I agree entirely.....and people keep engaging in this false left-right paradigm which is really centered on one U.S. Political Party with two buffet lines; one called the democratic buffet line and the other called the GOP buffet line.
