If we are only paying the “minimum payment”, as suggest in this video as a comparison to personal credit cards. We all know that means your credit rating will change unfavorably, usually costing you more in interest rates and a restriction of available or potential credit. And that is what this is all about. The change of the USA credit rating in the world. One that has similar, but more far reaching complications and impacts to us as a nation and individual. If we don’t pay our credit bills as individuals, it can’t bring a system down. This whole simplistic comparison leaves so much out, but that is what it’s intended to do. Make the argument seem so simple, so matter of fact to how we live our everyday lives. But in reality, it’s nothing like our individual affairs. None of us like debt, but let’s admit it. We hate the high interest rates even more. It will be the same if we go into default, or into kitchen table economics. Paying only what we can, never really getting ahead.

Is this not a classic example of why the government needs to remain big and even get bigger? Keeping the public(citizens) from actively participating in decisions that directly affect everyone,is one that prevents the government from getting bogged down?
May I,take this opportunity to comment on your article,Debt or Default:A False Choice, 7/14/2011
The 650 million acres you mention sounds like a lot of real estate that Corporate America can buy for pennies on the dollar.A good deal for them, for sure.Since you advocate natures demise for profit, allow me
to respectfully disagree with your posit.
I will spare you a descriptive detail on the devastation that has destroyed part of our habitat,we call earth. If you do not believe me,see for yourself; The once great Pacific North West and see the “checker board” forest along Interestate 5 in Oregon.Detour around the forest you see from your window in the State of Washington and see first hand the void, where once stood a Grand forest of “I can’t see the forest for the trees.” View the carnage left behind from Mountain top removal,in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. The list goes on,to include the air we breath and water we drink. I wish the trees could walk and talk, they just might decide to dissociate themselves from “Humanity.”
Thanking you for your attention to this matter – #2

To James de Laurier what has what you said got to do with our deficit and the borrowing of money to keep running this country? Not a lot for sure. I love this video because it is someone pointing out what should be so obvious to everyone it is ridiculous!! The government needs to downsize...take a pay cut and then I might respect anything coming out of Washington!! Stop just asking the people you supposedly serve to make cuts and pay out their nose for food and gas and a place to live!! When gas is not in check on prices, everything skyrockets!! At the same time business’s are closing right and left and people are losing jobs, homes and hope!! Step up to the plate and do what you ask all of us to do....if you even like this country...and makes some “real” sacrifices yourselves United States government!!! Make us believe you really care about this country and don’t want to continue borrowing from countries that hate us and would like to take control!! Call in some of the markers for money borrowed from us so we can do some damage control!! So many of us are so sick of the lies and rhetoric and the same old, same old government that does not care about the common man! By the way I want neither a socialistic or communistic government!! I know there are leanings that way by a lot of our present government...and I hope people can read some history and see that they never work for long and they destroy so many people, and aid those who do not want to work to stop working and make those who want to earn their own way to have to pay for everyone else!! You think things are bad now let that happen and see how tough it can be!! Find some older Russians who had to deal with it and other countries as well and they will not give glowing reports of those government takeovers by those regime’s!!! I’m just sayin’!!
