In an article at CBSNews.com, “National Debt Up $3 Trillion on Obama’s Watch,” Mark Knoller reports that:

“New numbers posted today on the Treasury Department website show the National Debt has increased by more than $3 trillion since President Obama took office.

“The National Debt stood at $10.626 trillion the day Mr. Obama was inaugurated. The Bureau of Public Debt reported today that the National Debt had hit an all time high of $13.665 trillion.

“The Debt increased $4.9 trillion during President Bush’s two terms. The Administration has projected the National Debt will soar in Mr. Obama’s fourth year in office to nearly $16.5-trillion in 2012. That’s more than 100 percent of the value of the nation’s economy and $5.9-trillion above what it was his first day on the job.

“Mr. Obama frequently lays blame for soaring federal deficits on his predecessor.

“‘By the time I got into office we already had a $1.3 trillion deficit and we had exploded the national debt,’ he said last month during one of his backyard chats with Americans.

“Just last Friday, the Treasury Department portrayed it as good news when it reported that the federal deficit in the fiscal year that ended September 30th was $1.294 trillion. That’s less than the $1.416 trillion deficit accrued in 2009—the largest federal deficit ever recorded. It was also less than the $1.556 trillion that had been initially projected for 2010. . .”

We pay our taxes... it’s what we are supposed to do. We send local politicians to Washington and state capitol to decide how best to use OUR money. Are they doing what THEY are supposed to do? NO.

We have to find a way to do away with Pork, Special Interests and all funding for political campaigns should have to come from voters and parties not big companies and other special interests. No favors with our money!

IF our money went where it should, there would be no deficit, we would be the richest country in the world. Think about it... the population of the US X hundreds of dollars in taxes a year EACH.

But our money is being spent on NONSENSE: sleeping habits of the bear; dream studies; etc. etc.

I wish there was a way we could demand these politicians to spend our money wisely. I wish we could do what we’d do in other cases. If I hired a carpenter and he didn’t do the job he was hired to do.... I wouldn’t pay him. Of course we’d all land in jail... Our hands are tied and I hate that. We just have to keep handing them hundreds of our hard earned dollars and watch it being misspent.

Now, to make things worse since they didn’t handle what we gave them they need to make us give MORE.... does that sound fair?

Pork? No we need to find a way to do away with whole slew of Federal Departments and agencies. Emasculate the Federal government back to what our Founding Fathers intended. Federal Department of Education. Terminate! Department of Energy. Terminate! Bureau of Land Management. Terminate! And many more....TERMINATE! Give all the employees in said closed down Federal agencies a pink slip.

The Federal government should not be in the insurance business, i.e., close FEMA and do away with Flood Insurance. The Federal government shouldn’t be in the student load business. The Federal government shouldn’t not even be in health care period. The age of halfhearted measures is over. We must GUT this Federal bureaucracy.

Return such functions back to the States where they belong.
